CHR probes Duterte, nearing 2013 elections

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) recently released its findings on the 2009 investigation by the same onto the "summary killings" in the City, then under the administration of then Mayor, Vice-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. It has recommended to the Ombudsman to investigate further the possible "administrative and criminal liability" of Duterte. Accordingly, his inaction as chief local executive may have encouraged the perpetuation of the said killings.

Asked to comment for his part, Duterte said," Ambot. Eleksyon na man gud. Sige lang."

Davao City PNP Chief Sr. Supt. Ronald dela Rosa revealed that the local police authorities are already 100% prepared for the eve of the Kadayawan fest. According to him, they have already augmented their total police manpower to around 600 officers and men, coming from different police commands in the city.

According to the same, random checkpoints are already in place within the city areas so as to discourage criminality and enforce gun ban ordinance.

Politicians Warned!

The Office of the City Mayor reiterated lately that politicians should not use Davao's Kadayawan Celebration for advancing their political agendas. This pronouncement stems from the fact that the Kadayan Celebrations, which is celebrated annually, should be given its due respect.

Kadayawan organizers stressed the fact to politicians to avoid campaigning at this time since elections is yet to be due on 2013.

"They are allowed to talk but not allowed to campaign", according to Mr. Orly Escarilla, press relations of Kadayawan Festival 2012.

Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio earlier revealed that she expects politicians to follow this request.
